Background

I am a Scottish Digital Freelance artist with a background in Zoology. I fell in love with digital art when I graduated from University of Glasgow in 2022, and the world was turned upside down in the COVID-19 Pandemic. During my struggle to attain any fulfilling internship opportunities, I decided to use this opportunity of stagnation and pick up a new skill that would change the course of my future. I was no longer stuck, and could find a way to support the causes I am passionate about.

Aside from academia, a profound source of therapy is found in TTRPG - I have been running games of Dungeons & Dragons and other TTRPGs for years, and my worldbuilding has allowed me to allow my imagination to run wild, and really stretch concepts of our-world's trials and tribulations.

My Goal

I unveil the beauty in brutality, and the morbid in reality; I create the uncomfortable to hold accountable those responsible.

Ecotype Arts is a project to create art and support wildlife conservation. So far, every purchase goes towards planting trees and cleaning our oceans, and it is my goal to grow Ecotype Arts so we can make greater change for a better future.

My artwork has huge influence in horror, and I wish to reflect the reality of the future of our planet. It is often the things we do not want to see are that which must take precedence in a decaying climate. The fight for survival lies on us to repair the damage we have caused. To fight against animal exploitation, cruelty, and suffering; all vile businesses that needs exposed.

Works are always in progress, and new designs will become available as I conceptualise existentialism.

About my Work

Everything you see is created in Photoshop, with a small array of texture brushes which really drive my technique, with a quick and loose style as I sculpt stories.

Most of my inspirations come from the realm of dark fiction - both Fantasy and Science Fiction have been a huge part of my life, and I hope to incorporate themes into my works. Gore is such a powerful tool that I believe can give a visceral reaction, and this is not something explored enough in the Natural History scene.
We've all seen beautiful fine-art illustrations of endangered species and pristine natural landscapes, but we fail to see the art of a destroyed world.

Gothic art is sorely missing, and I hope to fill that necessary gap. Uneasy imagery drives dark art, and I make that the core of my ethic. If this business grows, I can help make change to a conservation industry where money is the vital limiting factor.

A lot of my works have an extreme focus of existentialism, gore, and dark themes. Metal music is a lyrical wellspring for these themes, prevalent throughout all my works - a genre that is true cathartic inspiration.

I consider my style to be rough, messy, and uclean, rejecting fine detail and emphasising impressions and texture to sculpt my digital paintings.
